Acceleration Day at The Escape Company

On October 26, 2024, eight members of The Escape Company gathered in Aarhus for an inspiring Acceleration Day session led by Paul Ovington, a UK-based partner in the company.

The session was informal yet engaging, providing deep insights into Paul's mission to boost the high-tech economy and exploring the future of our collaboration with Escape. A key focus of this partnership is education, which will enhance the value and differentiation Escape offers to its clients.

Skills Framework for Project Managers

Paul introduced his innovative 8-part skills framework—a structured and systematic approach to upskilling project managers. This framework focuses on what he calls the “difference that makes the difference” in project management capabilities.

Unlike conventional training, Paul’s methodology is all about augmentation, advancement, and application—the three A’s. His framework takes project managers beyond the basics, equipping them with actionable strategies and insights for handling complex projects.

Key Highlights of the Day

  • Paul shared a high-level overview of each skill area, offering quick wins and hacks that attendees could immediately apply to their current projects.

  • We delved into a generic project lifecycle for high-tech product development, identifying the key challenges and opportunities when taking over projects mid-cycle.

  • The interactive sessions on Strategic Thinking and Project Lifecycles sparked lively discussions, leaving participants energized for future collaboration and training.

Super Project Managers

Paul also introduced the concept of the Super Project Manager:

  • A professional capable of navigating the complexities of systems development and challenging project environments.

  • A leader with exceptional communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to inspire development teams.

  • The Acceleration Day participants took significant steps toward becoming these Super Project Managers, armed with advanced tools and insights.

Paul’s expertise and vision are reflected in the “basecamp” version of his new website:
